Tony B. Goode
Tony Bacigalupo
Mayor of New Work City, 2009 Cog’aoke champion.
Rocker of faces across the nation.
My Twitter:
Why you should vote for me:
I have always been one who roots for the underdog, and further, one who roots against the champion. It’s just how I’m wired.
This year, I’m the champion. I’m the guy with the target on my back now.
Seriously, who wants to see me win a second year in a row? I don’t.
This presents a conundrum. How does one compete in a match that one doesn’t want to win? Do I simply retire? Withdraw? Deliberately try not to win?
Maybe I should not take it so seriously, you’re probably thinking? Probably. If I were somebody else.
But I would never stand on the sidelines for this. Not when there are new heights of karaoke stardom to achieve. I must compete. I must embrace the role of the villainous champion.
Just like Jean Girard. To paraphrase his words:
I must be beaten by a singer who is truly better than me.
Will I lose to you on purpose?
No.
NO!
I will better you with the entirety of my heart.
And maybe. Just maybe. You might challenge me.
God needs the devil. The Beatles needed the Rolling Stones. Even Diane Sawyer needed Katie Couric.
Will you be my Katie Couric?

This dude has been melting faces and blowing minds since birth. This one time, I got so excited he was coming to sing karaoke at this bar in town, that I kicked my mom in the face… hard. It’s okay, she got over it. All it took was the promise of a faux rocking so wondrous that it could make night bright, fog clear, and many women topless. Mr. BGoode brought that faux rocking. And he brought it hard.
Tony,
I already dethroned your karaokeness in NYC. You really want a piece of me?
This is the one you should vote for:
* he makes Steve Perry jealous
* he makes Keyboard Cat cry with joy (yes. he makes cats cry)
* nobody beats him on blow up guitar (check that pic!)
* I’ve yet to hear him sing Benatar but I know he can: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ffnWt9mVZg&NR=1
Only the power of a three-wolf moon shirt would be enough to draw a guy like this in.
A bit of a serious comment - if Tony isn’t in this year’s competition it will be a travesty and Cogaoke will be poorer for it. First off, Defending Champions in a competition like this should always be invited back to defend their title.
Second, and more importantly, Tony’s performances epitomize everything Karaoke is all about. Karaoke is not about who has the most beautiful singing voice - go to Westminster Choir College for that. Karaoke is about energy and engaging the crowd, and nobody currently ranked above Tony has linked to a video demonstrating greater skill at that (yes, I’ve watched them all).
I had the honor of being in a college band with this man for a couple years, and though we sometimes joked about his ability to be constantly *just* off-pitch, there was never any doubt that he was and is the most mind-blowing, face-melting, crowd-rocking frontman out there.
There’s a good reason he won last year folks. If you’re planning to be at Cogaoke, or know anyone who is, you should call up everyone you know and get them to vote him in. You’ll thank me later.
